“I have experienced times of need and times of abundance. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of contentment, whether I go satisfied or hungry, have plenty or nothing. I am able to do all things through the One who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:12-13
As we welcome this season of harvest, we are mindful of our blessings, yet aware of those in need. The desire to serve seems to come naturally to our Marywood community. While that service has looked decidedly different this year, we have not allowed the pandemic to impede our desire to help one another. In fact, I think we have made a more concerted effort to go above and beyond, in creative and meaningful ways, to meet the needs of our community. I am truly gratified and humbled by how we have shared our gifts of plenty.
This year, our celebrations may be smaller, simpler, and even virtual in nature, but the magnitude of our blessings has not diminished. We are actively thankful, united in our shared purpose, and we demonstrate that gratitude in countless ways—with family, with friends, and, in some cases, with people we may never meet.
Let’s focus on how we can continue to lead lives of active thanksgiving, asking our generous and gracious God to continue to bless each of us with grateful hearts, even in the midst of challenging circumstances. I pray that you and those you love enjoy a meaningful, peaceful, and Happy Thanksgiving.
