Directing Stage Performances Highlight Senior Theatre Capstone Projects

The Marywood University Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance presents two stage dramas directed by seniors completing their Capstone projects in Theatre. The dramas, Keely and Du, written by Jane Martin and directed by Marywood University senior Sean Patrick Gibbons, and Winners, written by Brian Friel and directed by Marywood senior Carolyn Ruggiero, will be presented on November 20 and 21 at 7:30 p,m. at the Sette LaVerghetta Center for the Performing Arts in the Black Box Theatre. The cast for Keely and Du will include students David Brace, Devon McFadden, Rene Arscott, Fraser Ross-MacCormack, and the cast for Winners will include students Hannah Botsford, Shane Hirschler, Nate Bradley, and Jessica Brookes.

Senator Casey Launches Statewide Witnesses to Hunger Exhibit- Nov. 16

U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) and his wife, Mrs. Terese Casey, will launch a tour across Pennsylvania for the exhibit Witnesses to Hunger, a photography project documenting hunger and poverty in Philadelphia on Monday, November 16 at 10a.m. in the Center for Architectural Studies, Marywood University. This project began at Drexel University in Philadelphia with 40 women capturing their daily struggle with hunger through the use of digital cameras. The project has been expanded to women in Scranton and will continue to expand to capture the universal struggle with hunger. This event is free and open to the public.

Print Guild Exhibit Displays Work from Art Faculty and Students

The Print Guild exhibit is on display today through November 15 in the Kresge Room, Insalaco Center for Studio Arts. For the past seven years, Print Guild provides an opportunity for art faculty and students to create an original print for purposes of exhibiting and exchanging a complete portfolio of prints in a wide variety of media. Print Guild was formed and is currently directed by Peter Hoffer, Associate Professor of Art. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Kresge Room hours include Monday –Friday 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m.

Students Spend Night Outside to Help Raise Awareness on Homelessness

Marywood Unviersity students will spend a night outside to help raise awareness on homelessness. The annual event, Sleep out for the Homeless, will start on Friday, November 13 to Saturday, November 14, in the Commons, Marywood University.

Graduate Exhibition I

Marywood University will present Graduate Exhibition I by three students on November 7- December 11. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 6-7 p.m. in the Suraci Gallery, Shields Center for Visual Arts. Both events are free and open to the public.

Art Faculty Biennial on Display: Nov. 7- Dec. 11

Marywood University will exhibit Art Faculty Biennial on November 7- December 11 in the Mahady Gallery, Shields Center for Visual Arts. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 6-8 p.m., with a gallery talk on Sunday, November 8, at 2 p.m. The gallery talk will provide students and the community an opportunity to meet members of the art faculty and hear them speak about their work, describing both the technical aspects of their creative processes and the ideas that inspire their art. All events are free and open to the public.

Health Fair Designed to Bring Awareness to Community- Nov. 4

Marywood University Student Health Services will sponsor a Health Fair on Wednesday, November 4 in the Latour Conference Room, Nazareth Student Center from 11:30a.m.-2:30p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Door prizes are available.

Andrea Novack Presents on Dysphagia and Speech-Languge-Hearing

Andrea Novack, Clinic Director in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department has presented Dysphagia - Diagnosis and Treatment at the Nutritional Support Workshop sponsored by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, she presented Speech-Language-Hearing Development at the Family Place Workshop, where children (up to 3 years old) and parents have the opportunity to receive information in the development and care of their children.

Lackawanna County Judicial Debate Held at Marywood University Tonight- Oct. 28

Marywood University's Politically Active Students Unite Organization will host a formal debate involving the candidates who are seeking a judicial position in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday, October 28 at 9p.m. in the Comerford Theater, Science Center, Marywood University. The event is open to the public.
